Properties

  • Frictionizing: This is increased by allowing the silica particles to adhere to the surface of the solids.
  • Adhesion: Strong adhesion is formed on the surface of a variety of substrates.
  • Coating: Produces a strong film forming coating on a variety of substrates.
  • Binding/Hardening: Has the ability to form a hard gel and can bind to other materials.
  • Rheology: Formation of uniform gel and precipitated gel.
  • Hydrophilic Contribution: Improved wetting and anti-static characteristics are obtained by SiOH group and water.
  • Anti-scratch: Silica sol can make a hard, clear coating to prevent scratching on the substrate.
  • Anti-static: Can be obtained due to the SiOH groups on the surface of the particle.
  • Anti-soiling: Imparts soil resistance to fabrics and fibers.
  • Impregnation Filling: Silica sol can fill porous materials to obtain a smooth surface.
  • Modify/Strengthen Resins: Silica sol modifies and strengthens organic resins by its uniform dispersion of particles.
  • Anti-block: prevents undesirable adhesion between touching layers of coated materials.
  • Anti-slip: prevents slipping by providing a tough, rough surface.
  • Mar Resistance: ability of coating to resists damage by slight abrasion, impact, or pressure.
  • Reactivity: ability to react with the vehicle in the formulation
  • Large Surface Area: smaller the particle the larger the surface area.
